The coming XR wave and how I deal with it.

Updated: Apr 1, 2020

I try to find solutions and make connections through stories. My passion lies in Film, Art, Animation, and Emerging Technologies. I have been involved with 3D animations, visual effects, filmmaking, website development, interactive apps, mobile apps, XR (VR/ AR) games, training experiences, and love exploring things yet to come. But dealing with the coming technology wave, in this case, XR has been challenging.

The rate in which technology is coming at us can make your head spin. Making choices with too much seemly random data can confuse anyone on how to make the right decision when creating solutions. This battle effects everyone, including the so-called experts. At the end of the day, there is no perfect answer since the data can shift any decisions on a daily bases. The best we can do is make the right decision on the known facts at the time and start to work.

I focus on making a good decision based on the facts today and try to be flexible to include new disruptions in technology, which will allow me to pivot when necessary.

The other primary guiding principle is to include both art and science to guide me and explore potential solutions. I need to understand the patterns that can shape and introduce me to unique solutions or approaches to my issues.

Finding solutions from unexpected places is so surprising and different. When an exceptional tricky problem seems to defy solutions, many times, it may come from a false assumption. Finding an unusual approach may not solve all dilemmas, but it can enlighten our understanding of the problem. Being different or having different solutions is not the goal, but at times outliers need answers that may not be in our sandbox.

One area of big interest to me is XR (VR, AR, MR). Many of my solutions will include reframing my prior knowledge to fulfill my expectations and make it all work today. If along the way, I disrupt the accepted answer with something that fits better, so be it.
